Bolton, Freddy

Freddy Bolton

Freddy BoltonFreddy joined the Lions Club of Tiffin, Ohio in 1978. During his time there, he served in all the Chairs and as a Board Member except that of Chaplain.   He served as President of the Tiffin Club in 1984-1985, and was honored with the 100% Club President Award Membership.  Fred moved to Fort Wayne in 1987 and transferred his membership to the Central Lions Club.  He served as a member of the board, completed a term of Second Vice President in 1989-1990, and President in 2003-2004. 

Fred is a Past Chairman of the Board of Indiana Lions Eye and Tissue Transplant Bank.  He is an active member of the following organizations:  Union Baptist Church, 32 Degree Mason, ALARAF # 20 Shrine Temple, American Legion Post #148, Hermetic Elks Lodge #428, Fort Wayne Mayor’s Senior Advisory Council, Percent Committeemen, President of Retired Men’s Club of Jennings Center and the Birthday Club. 

Freddy serves as 25-B’s District Chairman of the Diabetes Committee and Sight Conservation, 100% membership in Fort Wayne Central Tiffin’s Lions Club and best newsletter.  He has two children and his companion Viola has three children.  Freddy retired from the General Electric Hermetic Motor Department in Tiffin, OH where he served as the operation Quality Control Manager.

Collins, Ray

Ray Collins

Ray CollinsLion Raymond and his wife Elaine have been married since 1964 and have two children, Tina and Kristy. He is a graduate of Indiana State University, B.S. in 1968 and 1971 M.S. majoring in physics/mathematics with an endorsement in education. He retired from Eli Lilly and Company as an Environmental Specialist after 27 years of service. Lion Ray and Lion Elaine are also active in the Blackhawk Community Church.

Lion Ray is a member of the Riley Township Lions Club, which he joined as a Charter member in 1968.  He has served in all the Club offices, including two terms as President.  Lion Ray has served as a Trustee on several Lions projects including, Leader Dogs for the Blind, Speech and Hearing, and the Indiana Lions Eye and Tissue Bank.  He has also served twice as Zone Chairman, twice as Region Chairman, twice as Cabinet Secretary, Vice District Governor 2002-2003, and District Governor 2003-2004. 

Recognition and awards include:  Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, Lion of the Year, two Club “Presidents Appreciation Awards”, five “International Presidents Certificates of Appreciation”, a recipient of the “Sagamore of the Wabash” award in 2004, appointed Campaign SightFirst II, 25-E1 District Coordinator and received International Leadership awards in 2006 and 2007.

Crull, Mike

Mike Crull

Mike CrullMike has been a Lion member for 32 years.  Originally from the Williamsburg Lions, he has been with the Hope Lions for 17 years.  The current President, he has also served in the capacity of Secretary, Tail Twister, Zone Chairman, and Region Chairman. 

A 1974 graduate of Purdue University, Mike spent two years in Cooperative Extension Service as a 4-H Youth Director.  With a career in farming fertilizer business, he has spent eighteen years at Columbus Silgas Fertiligro as a field applicator. 

Mike and his wife, Sharon, are members of Hope Moravian Church: he is a member of the choir, a Sunday school teacher assistant, and a member of the Board of Trustees

Drapalik, J-Ross-

J-Ross-DrapalikLion J. Ross Drapalik joined the Martinsville Noon Lions Club on February 07, 1996 and has served as Trustee for the Indiana Lions Eye & Tissue Transplant Bank since July 1, 2004. Since becoming a part of the ILETTB Board of Trustees, Lion Ross has chaired the committee that oversaw the site selection and renovation of the 86th Street facility and currently serves on the Operation Kid Sight Committee. Lion Ross currently serves his home club as 1st Vice President and has served on the Board of Directors since 1997. His notable accomplishments since joining the Lions are being the recipient of the Linville Baker First Year Lion Award in 1997, Lion of the Year in 1998 and the Thomas P. Williams Service Award in 2006.  Lion Ross was awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship award by the ILETTB in 2007. 

A graduate of Purdue University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and Land Surveying, Lion Ross is currently employed by Drapalik Surveying & Engineering in Martinsville and is licensed and registered to practice land surveying with the state of Indiana.  In addition Lion Ross serves as Vice President of Painted Hill Utilities Corporation and is the Operations Director for Mapleturn Utilities Inc. Lion Ross and his wife Jennifer were married July 27, 1985 and have called Morgan County home ever since.  Jennifer has been employed for 20 years with Royal Title Services, Inc. in an upper management position.  They have one daughter, Danielle Maria, who was born in Guatemala 2007. Being devout Christians, Lion Ross and his family are members of Zion’s Hill Baptist Church in Martinsville.  Their ministry extends beyond church, as they are members of Step Out In Faith, a Christian music group whose calling is introducing contemporary Christian music to churches who are looking at moving away from the traditional church setting.

Graden, Suzanne

Suzanne Graden

Lions LogoLion Suzanne Graden was born and raised in the “Gateway to the West”, St. Louis, MO.  She has worked as a pharmacist in various settings for over 30 years and currently works as a hospital pharmacist.  Brownsburg was the site of establishing new roots in 2003 when Suzanne and her husband Lion Larry moved to Indiana for Suzanne to complete a post-doctoral fellowship at Eli Lilly and Company. They have a daughter who lives in Milwaukee and a son and daughter in law in St. Louis. A sibling will join their first granddaughter in the fall of 2009.

  Suzanne was a puppy raiser for Leader Dogs for the Blind receiving a 7-week Black Labrador puppy in May 2007.  She also helped at club fundraisers (the corn tent at the annual July extravaganza and monthly community breakfast) prior to joining the Brownsburg Lions Club in August 2008.  In addition to serving as an Indiana Lions Eye and Tissue Transplant Bank board member, Suzanne has been elected as the club Tail Twister and asked to serve as district newsletter editor .Suzanne enjoys being a Lion because in addition to providing an opportunity for fellowship, the positive effect of the organization is not only local but also achieves state, national and international impact.

Lions LogoLee Guthrie has been a Lion for 31 years.  He has served as Secretary and Vice-President and on the Board of Directors.  Lee has two children, a son, Terry and a daughter, Sandra, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

Lee is employed in the computer data archiving business.

David HyndmanDr. David Hyndman was born and raised in Ligonier, IN. He and his wife Heidi were married in 1991 and have four children:  15-year-old Natalie, 13-year-old Bethany, 6-year-old Nicholas and 3-year-old Brooke. He has been a member of Boonville Lions Club since 1997 and is serving his 8th year as club President.  He graduated from Indiana University’s School of Optometry in 1996 and started his practice in Boonville in 1997.  Dr. Hyndman is a very active member in his community. 

He is a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, member of the county Chamber of Commerce, a member of and second time President of the Boonville Kiwanis and a member and past President of the Southwestern Indiana Optometric Society.  He personally added over 25 members to his Lions Club bringing membership up to 50 members and still growing.  Ask him how!

Joann JagielaLion Joann Jagiela is a member of the Griffith Lions Club, where she has been the club treasurer for the past 3 years.  Joann is an elementary school librarian for the past 25 years in Merrillville.  She and her husband, Lion Ed have been married for 40 years and have two daughters.  Jennifer is an acute care nurse practitioner in San Francisco.  Diane is a data base administrator for Chep International in Orlando.  They also have a 1 year old grandson, Ian and expecting another grandchild in July.

Joann has been involved with her husband’s support group for organ and tissue transplant recipients and also various activities in the Griffith Lions Club.  She has most recently completed her first eyeglass mission to Mexico where she helped dispense thousands of glasses to the needy.  She currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Lions Eye ad Tissue Bank.

Kamman, Bob

Bob KammanBob joined the Lions Club in 1967 and is a member of the Seymour Evening Lions Club. 
He served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees in 1985-198 and 1989-1990.  Bob has held the following positions:  President, Secretary, Eyeglass Committee Chairman, and Lion of the Year in 1987, Zone Chairman and LCIF State Chairman.  

Bob served as District Governor of District 25 E-1 in 1991-1992 and has served on the Indiana Lions Foundation.  A graduate of Purdue University, he is a licensed pharmacist in Indiana and Florida and employed by CVS Pharmacy, Inc. and Kamman’s Home Care Shoppe.  Bob and his wife, Lion Sharon have two married sons, Scott and Andrew and have four grandchildren, Kody, Brittney, Hannah, and Leah.

Linneweber, Dan

Dan LinneweberDan is currently a member of the Sandborn Lions Club.  He served as club President and is currently Zone Chair.  He was born and raised on a farm in southern Sullivan County.

He, wife Elizabeth, and daughter Mackenzie, along with their 5-year-old white boxer Dumbo, reside in northwest Knox County.  During his work-life, Dan has had wide range of jobs:  trucking, sales, and farming.  His many hobbies include cooking, gardening, and camping.

Lockwood, Doug

Doug LockwoodDoug graduated in 1952 from New Paris High School and in 1954 from International Business College.  He attended IPFW in 1959-1961 and served in the US Army from 1957-1959.  He and wife Janis married June 07, 1959 and are members of Churubusco United Methodist Church.  Their family includes son Stephen, daughter-in-law Kim, a grandson, Noah Andrew, daughter Charla, and son-in-law Keith. 

Doug retired from GE in 1992 and from TAD Corp/GE in 1996.  He is currently employed at Bentz Transport Products.  He joined the Arcola Lions Club in 1979 and transferred to the Churubusco Lions Club in 1981.  He has held the offices of President, Secretary, and is currently Treasurer.  Doug served as District 25-B Cabinet Treasurer from 2001-2004 and on the Audit Committee in 2005-2008.

Matz, Owen

Owen MatzAfter moving from southern Illinois to Frankfort, IN in 1984, Owen joined the Frankfort Lions Club in 1985.  He has served three terms as President of the club and was Cabinet Treasurer of District 25C in 2002-2003 and Zone Chairman 2003-2004.  He is currently serving as Secretary/Treasurer of District 25C for 2007-2008.  He served as an officer with the U.S. Air Force from 1962-1968. 

A graduate of the University of Illinois, he is a commodities broker and has owned and operated Matz Commodity Services (MCS) since 1996.  He and his wife, Lion Margery, have two children and three granddaughters.

Millerman, Von

Lions LogoVon has been a member of the Stroh Indiana Lions Club twice.  The second time since 1975 with 25 years perfect attendance.  He has been President both times 100%.  He served as Secretary for 8 years, Zone Chairman for 2 years, and Region Chairman 3 years. 

He has been the Maintenance Director for Prairie Heights Community Schools, LaGrange County for 23 years.  He and his wife, Janet have two children, Jeanne Underwood and Jon Milleman.  They have a son-in-law, Leslie Underwood, and daughter-in-law, Tamara Milleman.

Gary MillerGary has been a member of the Union City Lions Club for 20 years.  He became an Eye Bank Trustee in 1995.  Fifty-nine year old Gary and his wife, Sandy will be married for 38 years this December.  They have two children, Rob and Jennifer, and one grandchild, Kelsea.  Embarq Telephone Company has employed Gary for 41 years.

Lions LogoRobert is a 47 year member of the Lake City Lions Club and is presently serving as Club Secretary.  He has served as Club, Zone Chairman, Lt. Governor, and District Governor in 1991-1992 of District 25-G.  He is a progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and has a W. P. Woods award. 

He served 6 years as Cabinet Secretary-Treasurer for District 25-G.  He is serving his 18th year on the Eye Bank. Robert also served as Assistant Treasurer for the Eye Bank for 2 years and as State Chairman for the Constitution and By-Laws committee for 4 years.  Currently, he holds the office of Secretary for the Eye Bank.  He and his wife, Virginia have been married for 48 years have two children and four grandchildren.

Nelson NixNelson and Dee, his wife of 43 years have four children and 9 grandchildren.  He is a 1966 graduate of Central Missouri State University and holds a B.A. in Education and a B.S. in Business Management.  He is Vice-President/Partner at Shultz Insurance Agency. Nelson is a member of the Elkhart Lions Club.  He has held the positions of President 1988 and 1989, 25-G District Secretary and Treasurer.  He was elected to the Indiana Eye Bank Board in 1999.  Nelson is Past District Governor of 25-G. 

Nelson has also held every Chairmanship in his local Lions Club.  He is a 5 times Melvin Jones Award recipient and an International President’s 100% Award recipient.  Nelson thoroughly enjoys working with the Eye Bank Board members particularly with the numerous challenges they have overcome in the last few years.  He was instrumental in establishing the amniotic tissue program throughout Northern Indiana and has participated in several eyeglass missions to Mexico.

Mike PenceLion Mike Pence is a 20-year member of the Beech Grove Lions Club and has served as club President three times.  He was awarded the 100% Presidents Pin in the first year as club President and is also a past Zone Chairman.  Active in his community, Mike has been awarded a life membership in the PTA and is currently a member of the High School Community Council representing many civic groups.

Mike and wife Debbie have been married for 10 years and have a combined family of three sons, and one daughter, one daughter-in-law and a beautiful two-year-old baby granddaughter.  He has been employed by IPL for 18 years, and his current position is as an Assistant Engineer Senior.  Mike was introduced to Lionism at very early age by his father Boyd, and contributes his many successes to both.

Schmidt, Freddie

Freddie Schmidt

Freddie SchmidtFreddie and his wife Kitty were married December 15, 1957.  They have a son, daughter and three grandchildren.  Freddie is a native of Pulaski Virginia and a graduate of Pulaski High School.  He is a 1958 graduate of Virginia Tech with a major in Accounting.  He is a Certified Public Accountant.  He retired from Eli Lilly and Company after 27 years of service. At Lilly, he headed the company’s Accounting Development Group and was the Manager of Accounting, Information Systems and Internal Auditing.  Freddie was a Pharmaceutical Sales Person, worked in mergers and acquisitions, and led the development of accounting and manufacturing systems and a manager in the re-engineering and operations improvement group.  The company’s first cost accounting policies manual was written and implemented by a team led by Freddie. 

Earlier Freddie worked as a public accountant, in textiles and highway construction. 
He taught Accounting and Personal Finance at Roanoke Virginia College and at the University of Indianapolis.  Freddie has served the Carmel Lions in many offices including President.  He chaired several local committees including the major fundraisers.  He went on to become District Governor in 1989-1990 and Chairman of the Indiana Lions Eye Bank in 1994-1996. He has also served as District ad State LEO Chairman, District and State Audit Chairman, District Finance Chairman, District Leadership Chairman, District Orientation Committee and Mid-Winter Conference Committee. He has served on the Finance Committee of the Eye Bank Association of America and was the Chairman of the first Finance Committee for the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization.  Freddie is a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church.  He has served his church as Administrative Council Chairman, as a Lay Reader, and as a guest Speaker.

Charles TempleCharles (Chuck) Temple has been a member of the Chesterton Lions Club for the past 12 years. Chuck in very active in the Chesterton Club having severed as President, District Chairman of the Lions Law Camp 2000-2008, Club Coordinator for Operation Kid Sight for 4 years and also a W.P. Woods Fellow.

Chuck served his country in the US Navy from 1952-1956 and is a member of the American Legion Post 502 out of South Haven, IN.  Chuck retired in 1996 from Inland Steel Company in East Chicago, Indiana where he worked as a Senior Research Technician for 34 years

Xinopoulos, Nick

Nick Xinopoulos

Nick XinopoulosNick was born in a small village in Northern Greece.  He immigrated to the United States in 1967 after serving his mandated 2 years in the Greek Armed Services.  Nick worked for Richmond Brothers in Indianapolis for 10 years.  General Motors, which has been purchased by Rolls Royce, Inc, then employed him. 

He just recently retired after 30 years and as a Production Supervisor.  Nick was accepted as a member of the Brownsburg Lions Club in 1990 and has also held the office of Club President, Board Member, July 4ths Parade Chairman, and Zone Chairman.  Nick and his wife Gretchen have 1 daughter, 2 sons, and 3 grandsons. 

He enjoys gardening, watching sports, and an occasional round of golf.
